I am a model, you know what I mean?

I like to think of myself as someone who likes to try different things. I have many passions. I love working out, DJing, coding, reading, collecting vinyl (check my discogs profile here), sports (Go Dodgers, Lakers, Cowboys, Oilers, Atl Utd, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Aces, and Thee I Love!), and a lot of other things.

Little-known facts: I released three hip hop albums under the pseudonym, James Crow. I am also a published poet and essayist.

Professionally, I serve on the Board of Directors for The Algebra Project, a math literacy and education-advocacy nonprofit. As a former Algebra Project teacher, I have been on the board since 2013 and currently act as Treasurer.

When it comes to coding, I'm self taught. I actually learned how to code as a result of me getting hired at the academy. My initial role was the 'classroom manager'. I figured that if I was going to be the best classroom manager that I could be, then I needed to learn coding as well. I bought a book on python, and that was it!

I believe that learning to code in order to teach it has helped me tremendously on my journey. It's not enough for me to simply make it work, but I have to work hard to see WHY it works because I anticipate being asked just that. The cool thing about what I do is that it gives me an opportunity to constantly learn and work to stay current with what the tech world is doing. Being an instructor gives me the great opportunity to bring out the best in myself and others. Not bad for a Business grad.
